Dyan Francis - President

Dyan Francis

Dyan Francis is the Business Development & Special Projects Manager for Messenger Community Newspapers, a News Ltd. company. With 15 years experience in Academic Publishing, based and working in the Asia Pacific region, Dyan brings to the APBCW a wealth of if knowledge in both International business and Asian cultural experience. Having served as the Vice President for Members and Sponsorship from late 2004 to mid 2005, Dyan is focussed and committed to growing the Council's membership base and expanding the benefits to all APBCW members.

Navarat Sachayansrisaku

Navarat currently holds various important positions in different Asian Communities in SA including the Vice President (Event Management & Sponsorship) of Asia Pacific Business Council for Women. With her versatile academic and work experiences both locally and overseas, she is now following her dream of becoming an entrepreneur herself.

Lorna Leung - Vice President (Memberships)

Lorna Leung

I graduated from University of South Australia in Bachelor of Business Management majoring in Marketing. I am currently working with BankSA in Commercial Division as an account executive. With my extensive experience and knowledge in banking finance and my Asian background enables me to understand my customers and their needs. I wish to share my experience with all members in the APBCW Committee via my role as a Vice President (Memberships).


Elena Sitnikova - Vice President (Member's Liason & Communication)

Elena Sitnikova

Dr Elena Sitnikova is a professional researcher and academic in the Defence and Systems Institute (DASI), University of South Australia. Her career has included over fifteen years engineering experience in the space and IT industry and she has a combination of expertise in communication control systems, software and systems engineering. Elena's career background in both industry and academic environments has provided her with a solid respect and understanding of industry and government needs in areas of risk management, quality processes and compliance to standards that she has demonstrated in areas of research, education and knowledge application and will be highly valued on the boards of companies. She is a current member of the Australian Organisation of Quality (AOQ) South Australia Software Special Interest Group (SIG).

Wei Yee Soong - Vice President (Marketing & PR)

Wei Yee Soong

Wei Yee, Soong is an Intermediate Accountant for Pitcher Partners, Adelaide. Pitcher Partners is a mid-tier accounting firm that has a diverse range of clients across a broad range of industries. She graduated from University of South Australia with a Bachelors degree in Commerce majoring in Accounting. She is now an Associate Member of CPA Australia and is currently pursuing her CPA studies. Wei Yee is a strong team player with a strong desire to learn. She hopes to bring her commerce and accounting experience to APBCW via her role as the Vice President (Marketing and PR) of APBCW. Liz Horrocks - Secretary

Liz Horrocks

After many years working in the Department of Education and Childrens' Services (DECS) as a Teacher, Co-ordinator, District Co-ordinator and Statewide Manager in Central Office, Dr Liz Horrocks now works at the Universitiy of South Australia where her position is Team Leader: Learning Advice in the Learning and Teaching Unit. Liz was a committee member of the Asia Pacific Business Council for 4 years and has recently rejoined the committee for a further term. In 2007 Liz was presented with the Women of Distinction in Special Education award from the APBCW.

Mia Dion - Assistant Secretary

Mia Dion

Mia Dion is a highly qualified marketing professional with 15 years experience in public relations, sales and marketing. Mia has a wealth of knowledge managing and marketing her own business and has helped a wide range of clients both in Adelaide, Sydney and Queensland with their marketing and sales needs. Mia graduated from Edith Cowan University with a Business Degree and a double major in International Business and Marketing. In October 2008 Mia Dion and two other university students won the South Australia State Prize for the Austrade Export Plan competition. The International Marketing and Export plan was conducted for the Australian owned energy drink manufacturer Roaring Lion. Currently Mia Dion is the Vice President of the Australian Asian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and she is also a member of the Australian Marketing Institute. Mia aims to increase awareness, promotion and offer effective marketing strategies for the ABBCW and our members.

Svetlana Obst - Treasurer

Svetlana Obst

Svetlana Obst is the Accountant Manager for Baleen Filters Pty Limited, a local South Australian company manufacturing innovative filtration systems for use in water recycling and waste water treatment. In her capacity at BALEEN Svetlana has also been involved with trade promotion offshore. BALEEN is now exporting its products to 8 countries worldwide.

Svetlana has also served as Executive Member for the Russian Chamber of Commerce & Industry Inc (RACCI) and has experience in promoting products and identification of opportunities for Australian companies in the Russian region.

Svetlana was previously a committee member for APBCW, and this year rejoined as a Treasurer.


Teresita Sarmiento - Assistant Treasurer

Teresita Sarmiento

Teresita Sarmiento joins the APBCW committee with a vast range of experience and varied skills. Not only is she a registered Migration Agent but also a Certified Practicing Accountant. Terista is also a financial counsellor within a Government agency, where her time is spent assisting disadvantaged people and refugees. Since arriving in 1982 Terista has also been a very active member of the Filipino community here in South Australia.
